Overview

How to read the dashboard overview without getting stuck in vanity metrics.

Updated 2026-05-29

What the overview is for

The overview is the fastest way to answer "is the channel moving, and which videos are carrying the movement?" It combines period metrics, trend charts, and top videos so you can spot momentum before opening deeper views.

Controls that change the read

  • Period changes the window used for trend and KPI cards.
  • Content type lets you compare all videos, long-form uploads, Shorts, and livestreams separately.
  • Visibility keeps public, unlisted, private, or all imported videos from mixing together accidentally.
  • Top video sort changes whether you are looking for views, watch time, retention, or another leading signal.

What to check first

Start with views and watch time, then look at the top videos behind the movement. If the channel is up, ask which format or topic is responsible. If the channel is flat, ask whether the top performers are old evergreen videos or recent uploads.

A useful overview read

A good overview read sounds specific: "Recent long-form tutorials are adding most of the watch time, but packaging is weaker on the new comparison videos." That gives you something to inspect in Videos, Insights, or Growth tools.
